Dr. Downey is the doctor everyone wishes they had. I have been a patient of hers for years and have found her to be the most supportive, compassionate and knowledgeable doctor I’ve ever been to. I have always left her office feeling assured that whatever my problem is, she is on it and will do everything she can to help me. Even during the pandemic she has remained concerned with every aspect of my health. I feel very lucky to have her as my doctor.

I truly cannot say enough good things about Dr. Downey. I haven't had the best experience with doctors in the past, but Dr. Downey is the most caring, compassionate Dr who truly cares about her patients. The amount of time she puts in to researching how to help me as an individual with some of my medical concerns is like nothing I've ever experienced at any other practice. I recommend 10/10

My experience as a patient of Dr Downey’s for the past year and a half has been excellent. She is responsive, caring and incredibly knowledgeable. Having direct contact with my primary care physician is priceless. No more calling a clinic and waiting to talk to someone who usually isn’t your doctor and isn’t familiar with you. The personalized attention is reassuring and problems are solved quickly and efficiently. I’m so glad a friend recommended Dr Downey to me, and now I’ve recommended friends to her. We’re all very happy with the care we’re receiving. Thanks, Dr Downey!

Dr. Downey has been my primary care doctor for almost 3 years now, the last two since she opened her private practice. She is professional, brilliant, caring, and sensitive to my medical issues. Dr. Downey actually listens to what I have to say. And she has a great sense of humor! Her diagnoses have been on point and she is always available if I need an appointment. It is a real pleasure and joy to have Dr. Downey as my primary care physician. I trust her medical judgment and she is probably the only doctor I've ever listened to, and actually followed her instructions when she told me what I needed to do! Highly recommended!!

EXCELLENT! Charlottesville Direct Primary Care is simply excellent. Dr. Rebecca Downey is a knowledgeable, caring and responsive primary care physician. I was very frustrated with the level of care I was receiving for my front-line medical needs and sought recommendations for someone who has great skills, is highly organized and quick with responses to my questions and medical needs. Dr. Downey was the name I kept hearing and so I contacted her practice. She and I met to see if the relationship would be a good fit, and I felt confident she is highly professional, ethical and caring. I joined her practice and have been totally pleased with her exceptional care. She knows her medicine, responds very quickly and works well with my other specialist providers at UVA Health and Sentara. I could not give a higher rating. I’m thankful for her medical care.

Dr Downey is a truly unique care provider with great attention to individual needs especially when it comes to advocating with the larger healthcare community. She thinks outside the box and is ready to dialogue to find solutions for health concerns and challenges starting at the root cause. She has a great mix of perspectives and disciplines and is always responsive from the small questions to the bigger ones. Truly a gem to have on your side, get on her waitlist and consider yourself extremely lucky to be in her care.

Dr. Downey is an excellent physician! From my first appointment, I felt heard and that my health was in good hands. I am sad to leave the practice due to the move, but I highly recommend her practice to anyone looking into the direct primary care model.

Not only is Dr. Downey a kind and compassionate doctor, she’s also a partner that joins me in navigating my complicated health issues. Over the past year, we’ve built a strong and trusting relationship in which I feel heard and seen—there’s no dismissal of my symptoms or feelings, and I can count on her to be direct with me. Dr. Downey is my advocate when dealing with healthcare specialists, and she acts as the leader of my care team, both of which are rare qualities in today's healthcare system. Her tenacity has been a gift to me, especially when at times, I would like to give up on myself. She and Summer provide an amazing team, and I cannot speak highly enough about them. Their unique combination of experience, professionalism, kindness, and perseverance have been a relief to me after years of feeling very alone in my medical care.

There are not enough stars to express my gratitude to Dr Downey for her compassionate care, wisdom and commitment to her profession. She spent more time with me on my first visit then all drs, PAs and NPs combined over the past 15 yrs. She patiently explained prior lab results and what she planned to order and why. She thinks outside the box and as a result identified several issues which are now being addressed with outstanding specialists that she helped to coordinate. Dr. Downey continues to monitor all tests and procedures and has always responded incredibly quickly when I’ve had questions. For the first time in 15yrs. I have felt heard and like I am a partner in my own health. Thank you Dr. Downey!!
